Peru, Puno

Puno is the place where "the biggest religious party in the world is taking place" so the TV ad says... This is the "fiesta de la virgen de la candelaria", or fiesta of the virgin of the candles...

Since I have arrived in the area, I have seen dancers in all the villages around and in Puno getting ready for the big show in the stadium on Sunday... A taxi driver told me it was as big as the Rio carnival (maybe pushing it a bit too far!), but there s no doubt it s going to be fun!

By the way, I know another virgin who s blowing the candles today... Feliz cumpleaños!!
